Establishing cost-effectiveness of genetic targeting of cancer therapies

چکیده
Professor WH van Harten MD ment [2]. In 2002, researchers at the Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI, Amsterdam, the Netherlands) identified a 70-gene prognosis signature (MammaPrintTM), using microarray analysis for lymph node-negative breast cancer patients [3]. Using the 70-gene signature, the selection of patients that will benefit most from adjuvant systemic treatment could be more accurate. The signature has been validated in three independent retrospective patient series [4-6]. A prospective feasibility study, the MicroarRAy PrognoSTics in Breast CanER (RASTER)-study was started in 2004 [7].

The Effect of Plant-derived Compounds in Targeting Cancer Stem Cells
Background Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are a small subpopulation of cancer cells with self-renewal and differentiation ability. Furthermore, CSCs are resistant to chemoradiotherapy due to their high level of detoxifying enzymes, strong DNA repair abilities, and high drug efflux capacity. Objective Therefore, CSCs are supposed to account for cancer initiation, progression, metastasis, recurrence, ...
متن کاملMetastatic Colorectal Cancer: A Systematic Review of the Value of Current Therapies.
To evaluate, from a US payer perspective, the cost-effectiveness of treatment strategies for metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC), we performed a systematic review of published cost-effectiveness analyses. We identified 14 papers that fulfilled our search criteria and revealed varying levels of value among current treatment strategies. Older agents such as 5-fluorouracil, irinotecan, and oxalipl...
متن کاملPnm-17: Cost Effectiveness of Human Papillomavirus Testing in Cervical Cancer Diagnosis
Background: Epidemiological studies are shown robust association between human papillomavirus (HPV) and cervical cancer. From 1990 HPV was known as a necessary but insufficient cause of cervical invasive cancer. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the cost effectiveness of HPV test in cervical cancer screening. Materials and Methods: This is a systematic review article; the newest scienti...
متن کاملmiR-506 inhibits cell proliferation and invasion by targeting TET family in colorectal cancer
Objective(s): Ten-eleven translocation (TET) family members have been shown to be involved in the development of many tumors. However, the biological role of the TET family and its mechanism of action in colorectal carcinogenesis and progression remain poorly understood. Materials and Methods:We measured the expression levels of TET family members in colorectal cancer (CRC) specimens, in the c...
متن کاملStem Cells Application in Modeling of Human Genetic Diseases
The use of animal models in modeling of human genetic disease has many advantages. In some cases, however, this method may not be applicable due to some limitations, such as differences in tissue composition, anatomy and physiology of humans and animals. Isogenic human disease models are a population of cells that are selected or engineered to model a specific genetic disease, in vitro. They ar...
